Does anyone use a handheld GPS in a current Mercedes (with it's original window tinting)? Ive had a Garmin Emap for a while now, I find that it's performance in seeing satellites to be very much hampered comparde with the unit sitting in 4 other cars. Could this be because the Mercedes original (light green) window tint have metallic contents in it?

The green color is made by increasing the iron content of the glass, but it doesn't affect GPS. What model are you driving? I use a Garmin III and it works just fine in my C and ML. The new S Class has metal coated glass in all positions. There is a trapazoid shaped area in the w/s near the bottm that has been treated to allow devices like radar detectors and GPS to work. If you place the unit there is should work better.
