Had an epiphany this morning when I realized that the diagnostics lines on the 38 pin connector of my 2000 R129 can be read with the flash code adapter that I built for my A124. All I need is a breakout box which I ordered from eBay. Can't believe I had my head up my pooper for so long!

Foxwell NT520 can communicate with the 38pin plug for around $150.

Thanks. My iCarsoft reader can do the same, I just never new that one could also use the good old fashioned flash codes on the 38 pin connector.

Isn't that diagnostic port mainly for fuel related issues?

The 38 pin connector interfaces with almost all of the car's various sub-systems so a great many things can be diagnosed/reset with it.
