No, it can't. If you want a brighter bulb, take a look at the Philips VisionPlus. They are 10% brighter and are whiter than normal H7 bulbs

http://www.evosport.com/product/lighting/lighting_mercedes.html

They are available for a about $40 including shipping from: http://www.autolamps-online.com/halogen/index.htm

For more info about various bulbs see: http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4512&highlight=visionplus

I used PIAA extreme whites and they're pretty white. They're DOT 55W but equivalent output of 85W. They complement HID on my CLK and E430SE.(approx same color.

What I would recommend are the Philips Vision Plus for H7.
I can attest to their brightness. I bought them from a site in the UK and had them shipped to the States. (http://www.autolamps-online.com/halogen/index.htm)
You cannot buy them outside of Europe, but this site has no problems sending them Stateside.
Enjoy.
Side note: one of the bulbs in your CL230 is a Philips (of the same series as the VisionPlus), the other is an OSRAM. Stock bulbs are bright, but these are about 20% brighter.
