Hello and greetings from the sleepy seaside village of Los Angeles! I have been lurking on this site since March of this year. My wife and I own 3 Mercedes; two 107s, A euro market D-Jet 350 SL and a USA spec D-Jet 450SLC, and a W113, a 1968 280SL "California Coupe."

After being a mechanic for many years I decided to change trades for my other passion which is the law. I am a full time student but I still find time to run a small engineering and consulting business (hervey engineering + consulting | restoration consultant – classic cars pre-1975, site still under construction; please bear with me) specializing in solving problems associated with older vehicles, which are my true passion.

After spending years wrenching on Italian and English makes, my wife got me to finally take the plunge with Mercedes cars (we discussed how to "improve" her 280SL on our first date) so I struck out and bought 2 107 cars. We both use old cars as daily transport, and apply lessons learned to my business as a means of support for me while also providing affordable and rational solutions for others who may have the same problems. I have always admired older Mercedes vehicles for their uncompromised quality relative to other makes but until I met my wife I was having too much fun with those "inferior" makes.

You can read about the ultimate plans for the 113 car on my site, as well as another car or two. The 107s will get a column of their own documenting my exploits soon enough.

My plan is to if possible develop an alternative to the D-Jet trigger points that is visually undetectable that can be retrofitted to these cars. The next plan is to possibly start restoring/rebuilding or remanufacturing D-Jet wire harnesses; since these components are scary expensive there is room for small scale competition, and in the trigger points case, a possibility to substitute a wear item that affects economy, performance, and emissions for something that will not wear out.

The next thing is to create a plug and play version of the Megasquirt EFI that is visually correct and easy to set up ad install.

I have already cast out for a D-Jet dizzy to research my trigger point replacement idea, but I see there is a lot of interest in the Megasquirt these days, causing me to reconsider the project priority.
