Hello all. I have been perusing the site for the past couple of days, and I want to thank you all for the WEALTH of information available here! I am a longtime fan of classic MB cars, and when I was 22-24 years old I had a 1980 240d and then a 1983 300d a few years later. Since that time, I've driven newer japanese sports cars (currently own a Subaru WRX), but I have SORELY missed my old German mechanic and the cars that I drove to his place, so I decided it was time to look at getting a new toy. With a relatively meager budget, I began scanning craigslist postings anywhere in about a 300-mile radius of Nashville, and I finally found my car near St. Louis, MO and picked it up this weekend. It's a '78 450sl in "aztec red" (read pumpkin orange).

I have been looking for answers to some early questions, so I'm not going to bother you with any of those yet, until I've done my due diligence. I just wanted to drop a line and say hello and thanks to all you posters. Looking forward to getting to know my fellow 107 owners!

In BW terms, you're almost a neighbor to me in Southern Illinois. If you picked up your car in person, you drove almost through my back yard... well, within 10 miles or so.

I'm hoping to meet ScottinSoCal here...It looks like he and I have identical cars. Same year, same color (I've never seen another Aztec Red Mercedes that I know of, until I got mine the other day).

They seem high, but if their stuff is NOS, I don't think I've found a better online resource yet.
