Absolutely love my W163 ML320, had her for over 70,000 miles and she really hasn't missed a beat.

However, recently she doesn't want to pull at anything over 5,000 rpm, I'm sure the needle used to just sweep straight round from 5,000 to 6,000 when on full throttle. It feels like it's holding back ?

I have recently changed all the following.... (all parts from MB main $tealer)

Plugs
Air filter
Oil
Cleaned MAF - not all that thoroughly though
Fuel filter (and updated pipes)

None of these made any difference either way.

I then had the fault codes read, there were some misfire codes, and some oxygen sensor codes. I had the oxygen sensor replaced and all codes cleared and no codes have re-appeared.

But I still have same problem... lack of power/acceleration above 5,000 rpm.

??

Any ideas anyone,

Many thanks guys :)

I'm thinking some restriction on the exhaust side someplace.

I would still take a second look at your MAF.

Personally, I am neither a proponent nor believer of cleaning the MAF.

If you are minded to purchase a new one, use a reputable vendor like AutohausAZ.

The experts will need to know which model year your truck is...

I agree with pdx that you should check for an exhaust restriction; probably one of the catalytic converters.

I had this exact problem I tried cleaning the MAF and it did not help. I drove to NAPA purchased a new one installed it in the parking lot and it was like I had traded the ML in on a new one, complete change all problems and codes stopped immediately

Had to replace a MAF on myu ML430 before, but it's been a while - the "check engine" light came on and the diagnostics uncovered it. The new one sure fixed it.
