Yep, been all over the R/C107 forum lately. Looking for help in quieting my '76 450SL "lifter tick", aka "valve train noise". Found 2 really good threads with great info but neither of them have a really happy ending regarding quiet results!
Hydraulic valve compensator adjustment
I have a 560 with hydraulic valve compensators. I had a valve job done but they did not shave the heads. Upon redoing the heads on assembly I put in new lifters but kept the old compensators. All tested good using the hammer test method. Early on I tried to set the adjustments on the valves...

I finally couldn't take the infernal rocker tic in my 380 anymore, so today I torn it apart. Much to my dismay I found nothing wrong. I did however determine that if you don't crank the engine for at least 30 seconds (fuel & ignition off) between each check with the go no-go gauge, you're...
