I installed a COMAND unit from a 2005 w209 (same year and model as my car) and it seemed to be okay - radio and CD player worked fine at least - but the GPS was off by 56 miles. So I drove around for an hour hoping it would zero in but by the time I was done it was off by 80 miles. The unit doesn't say that there is a problem with the antenna but if I pull it off it doesn't seem to know that it isn't there.

Does anyone know if the unit takes a certain amount of time to come up? Does the make and model of antenna make a difference? Will coding help? I couldn't find a satellite menu to tell me anything about the number of satellites it's using so I don't know if it is even seeing any.

Any suggestions?

All right, everyone can stop panicking. My GPS is now working. Don't know if it was anything I did but I went out this morning and reset the thing about four times in a row and all of a sudden it went to my location. It was working but it didn't know what direction I was was going. So I started driving and reset the unit again and it started working exactly as it should. Nice. Now I just need to get to my dealer and have them code the thing so I can see the directions in my dashboard display.

Thank you charliew for the PM but that apparently wasn't the issue. I already have the 2007 disk and I'm already wondering where I can get a newer one for not too much.

Thanks

Steve
