i am very very new to mercedes as i have in the past only raced integra type r's and hybrid civic's. please bear with me...

i was wondering what cheap options i have to squeeze more HP out of the c230k?

also, what are my front lip spoiler options?

race suspension setups?

any websites will help

also, do any of you track your c classes? if not, you're a bunch of women! [;)]

In terms of engine performance you got it, a factory hot rod. Nothing you can do it make it better, it's already at perfection with 155HP at the wheels. The only thing I know of that may push that number is NO2.

As for suspensions, many have installed the Eibach sway bars (~$375) and springs (~$250). For a little less dough you can get the AMG sway bars off the C32, about $200. For bigger buck tastes get the adjustable H&R coilover kits (~$1,500)

Front lips spoilers and bumper kits you can get from Brabus, Lorinser, Reiger, Carlsson...

I only run at a local 1/4 mile track for performance testing but I have the bigger 2.3L engine tricked up a bit. Even though you don't have a coupe, check with Renncpe at www.csportcoupe.com he races autocrosses on a regular basis and has lots of mods. Racing MB's is not my cup of tea, I prefer motor-cross, a real man's sport (no AC, Power Windows, ESP, hi-tech stereos and teleaid to call mommy when I get a booboo :D )

so that means no nawwsss, but i know there's gotta be a way to squeeze more power of of this engine... intake, more free flowing exhaust, pulley's, etc...

You are outa luck in terms of stuff you can buy specifically for that motor. Not even an aftermarket air filter, nothing, nada, zilch.

You have to be creative and go generic, take the Eaton S/C out and put in a small turbo like the 16g. That way you can dial in 18-20 PSI at the track and go down to 10 PSI for a comfy ride home. No S/C overhead so that alone will free up significant ponies. You can get nice rebuilt small turbo's for a few hundred bucks. The engine is already built to take the boost and you already have an IC in the car so the work is minimal. The cheapest thing you can do is weight management, that car is a porker for it's size. Remove the seats, carpet, headliner, airbags, door panels, A/C, heater, windshield washer reservoir, spare, jack, anything you can remove. Get a lightweight Sparco seat for the racing. Also get rid of those insanely heavy 17" wheels, 15" racing harts will work.

Get enough ooomph into that puppy and you can go real racing like WRC, not that woozy stuff on concrete with orange cones.

ESP can be partially turned off with the switch. On my car I can put it in dyno mode and bypass ESP and traction control but the same sequence to put it dyno mode I've heard doesn't work on the 03's

And yes, they can look at this info on the ECU through their DAS laptops and see what you have been up to. They can even tell if you've been on a dyno because the rear wheels spin but not the fronts. It's just the risk you take modding the car. If you wanted a faster sedan they would have happily sold you a C32. On the otherhand, even if I had a C32 I would be modding it. :D

There are plenty of other MB forums, for C-class this is the slowest but for SLKs this is the best one. I lurk the SLK forum because it has the same engine as my '02 Coupe.

i wasn't really concerned with them checking on me modding the car and going on a dyno, just wondering about driving the car hard, if they would say anything about that? if something were to break or so...

I can't imagine that they would hassle you on warranty stuff from driving the car hard. Afterall, there's a rev limiter and a speed limiter. Of course if you have a manual trans and downshift to 1st at high speed you can damage your car out of stupidity but to me that's different than hard driving. Just about all cars these days have "black box" technology that logs engine vitals and speed for a certain number of miles or time. This helps with R&D, accident re-creation and stuff like that. Don't know if they look at that stuff for warranty work.

Don't Brabus have a engine tune kit for 230k?
Stage 2 (?) or something supposedly boosts horse power from 189 to around 250. Done from what I remember reading, some part that goes on the SC that turns faster/pumps more air into it and exaust kit, or something to that effect... been awhile I visted their site so don't quote me on that...

Don't Brabus have a engine tune kit for 230k?
I haven't heard of any tuning kit short of an engine swap that will make the 2003 C230 motor any faster. The Brabus kit is for the 2002 C230 and is the typical pulley that you can get from many sources (ASP, Kleemann, Renntech, Vaeth) and a muffler which you can also get from many sources (Remus, Sebring, Supersprint,..). The advantage of Brabus is that it's the only tuner that maintains the MB warranty. The caveat is that 1) you pay the $3,000 cost of admission + installation charges (nobody on the forum has ponied up yet), 2) it has to be installed by them in Newport Beach, CA.

Try the alcy kit from www.alcycontrol.com. Spray of alcy and turn up the supercharger for more horse power and safe for the engine.Talk to Julio.
