I'm looking at getting a used GL 300 series with the BlueTEC. Is there one year which is better than another? Is there a year to sort of stay away from? I'm not seeing a lot of the 300's for sale, but I've got about three or four months before I need to get a new vehicle. Any recommendations?

Good luck finding a used Bluetec, most people who buy them keep them. Very few are leased due to the benefits of longterm diesel ownership (lower costs).

Consider getting one new? Known service history, fresh warranty?

Fuel savings will go a long way to offset the depreciation given the nearly double the fuel economy over a gas powered GL.

GL diesels command a $10k premium over the 450's at Manheim. So when you do find one, you will be paying through the nose.

The deal I secured on my ordered 2011 is the equivalent of buying a 2010 from Manheim so you would most likely be better off going the new car route.

If you want to mod your diesel with a chip/tune/box, get a CDI, not a BlueTec.
