When I had the Powerchip software done, they couldn't remove the speed limiter. I heard they can now so I asked. Their response......

Dear Jon,

We indeed now can remove the speed governor from your vehicle.

Give me a call directly and i'll have the reflash process set up.

Sweet....looks like I'll be sending my ECU back in to have this done.

This is what I posted in October........

"Today Jon is a happy person. I had been waiting to post results of what I thought was a nice gain. My pre Powerchip numbers were Max HP=215.83 Max Torque=217.99. After I got my ECU back from Powerchip I can now burn rubber (when I really couldn't before) and it's seems much more snappy. So I went and dyno'ed today. My numbers now?? Max HP=234.1 and Max Torque=238.2. I'd say that's a nice difference. Remember, I do have the AMG intake and personally I think my ECU was messed up by the company that formerly "tuned" it - Speedtuning USA. I'm not going into that, but all I can say about Powerchip is I'm very satisfied. I think the numbers speak for themselves."

Again, some people like JoshK say I'll have just as good of numbers with just the stock software and maybe things were screwed up by the former "tuning" company, but all I can post is my experience. I hope other people's experience is the same but I make no guarantee's. Either way, what I really wanted in the first place was the speed governor eliminated and now it will be, so that in itself is good enough for me. [:D]

What did the chip tuning cost if I may ask? I have been in communication with a company out of Oregon called INMotion. The company originated in Austria. Original cost to me was to be 349.00 but in an email I received yesterday Gunther Heckman (he doesn't have an accent) said he would drop the price to 250.00 and give me 10 days before he billed me. Pretty good offer. Wondering if anyone else out there has had any dealings with INMotion?

Thanks JT. I've got a quote from Speedtuning in MD for $375 installed while other places like performanceproducts (and powerchip itself) asked for $840. Any more info would be appreciated.

I thought the CLK430 came at 275HP, no?

I've never heard of InMotion so I couldn't tell you anything about that. I think the price was answered already. It's not really cheap but I was very very frustrated with Speedtuning and knew I didn't want to deal with them anymore.

I could dig up old threads where I talk about my experience with Speedtuning, but instead of really getting into it I'll just say this. If you can go there and deal with them, that might work better. Some people here have a good experience with them but mine was completely horrible. They never delivered what they promised and charged me shipping there and back everytime to "fix" the problem (even though again, they never fixed it). I just finally gave up on them and cut my losses.

You're thinking crank HP. I believe typical RWHP is anywhere from 210-225 depending on year and conditions of the test and everything. Mine was pretty much right at 215.

Oliver told me $325 for the chip and $50 for installation. I asked him for references and the dyno results but he refused to give out customer info and said the outcome should be as advertised.

When do you plan to go there? The weekend after this weekend, I have people coming from out of town and the one after that, I'll be in out of town [:(]

Wait a second and please correct me if I am wrong, Oliver from PowerChip said $325 for the flash to your chip for the Benz World group buy? If so that's less then half their advertised price and that would be worth the 20hp boost I would get for my 320.

That price is not even BW buy, it's a anybody price (well, it's a any SL/CL500 price). You can go to the website and check it out.

Does Powerchip do anything for the AMG line??? I would to hook up a little more hp/torque to my ride.

blackbenzz let me know when you are back in MD, I have a friend who just bought a 92 Honda with some sort of modified V-tech engine w/ turbo and swears he can run with my CLK55. I told him we could settle it on the track! I know you said in a few posts you were going to be away for a few weekends so just pm me when you are available. Thanks

Oliver is at speed tuning not powerchip. The group buy price for clk320 is 200+shipping.
Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere else but I didn't see it in this thread: what is the Speed Tuning group buy cost for a CLK430? Thanks BB

It's the same no matter what the car. Same software really, just different mappings or settings. So whatever BB said. I think $200 plus shipping both ways.
