Good dealer story

This time my dealer impressed my favorably.
I needed to take 05 C230 Sedan to service to check a couple of things:

1. A possible leak in the exhaust system.
2. Wheel alignment.
3. Fix a minor chip on the windshield.

None of these was urgent, so I called to make an appointment for a day on which they could guarantee to put me on a loaner. -- Sure enough they gave me an appointment for two weeks later. Not a problem.

Important note on the side: My delaer is in a different city, about 60 miles away from my home town. (Its the closest MB delaer)

When I got there for my appointment, they told me the person currently driving my scheduled loaner, failed to pick up his car the night before, so the loaner wasn't there.

They offered: A "shuttle" to take me to my office (yes, about 65 miles away) and, to later deliver the loaner to me to wherever I would be. -- This sounded OK to me, but somehow, my fear was that they would drop me OK, only to later call me and tell me they wouldn't have a car to put me in.

First surprise:
The "shuttle" turned out to be a 04 black S500, with 2 chauffers (apparently they work in teams), I was the only passanger. They opened the door for me, gave me the newspaper to read and a cup of cappuccino to make my "commute" comfortable.

Second surprise:
About 3 hours later another team of 2 chauffers called me from the parking lot of my office. My loaner was there. A pretty nice W210 E Class.

This is really nice, considering I have just bought my first MB, and it was "only" a C Class, I mean, I am not one of "those guys" that represent 2-3 150K+ car deals a year...

It's pretty refreshing... And something I wouln't probably had, if I had bought any other car in the same price range.

BTW, my car is still in the shop, my tech-rep, calls me every afternoon to give me a status report, and I'm still driving the W210.

which dealership? SA? I live in San Marcos, so I might go with them in the future (instead of Austin)

Cardenas Autoplex in Harlingen, TX
I think is too far from San Marcos
Now if all dealers provided service like that this company would be much farther than it is today.
I've heard a bunch of horror stories about dealers which suprises me, you would think Mercedes has awesome service, and at my dealer they do

Never had better service, they treat me like i'm a million dollar profit, and I love every minute of it, i'm hooked
My dealer rocks!! Santa Barbara Auto Group in Santa Barbara California. They almost always have a nice C Class loaner for me, and if not, they give me a ride to and from my office. They are also great abount not BS'ing you if there is a problem that will take more than just minimal effort to fix. They really take the time to figure out the correct fix and then they do it. I have had some minor issues with my vehicle, but I can;t complain about the service at all. It is consistently excellent. The exact opposite of the service I received from Lexus.
Amazing. I never touch Cutter in S.B. The last time I was in there was a couple years ago. I walk in to parts with my buddy for a turn signal lens for his '74 914 Porsche. (they're the local Porsche dealer as well). We walk up to the counter and the guy starts off with attitude like he's doing us a favor. He looks it up and says "$110.00" , nothing else. So my friend Bill says he only wants the lens, not the whole turn signal assembly. In his most snobbish voice, the reply: "That IS just the lens". Haven't been back for anything since!
Thats a good story ... my dealer is like that as well. Very nice place to be at. I kinda feel under-dressed sometimes though. LOL

From what I have heard, they have gotten alot better since the new ownership took over. Previous accounts of dealing with the Cutter ownership are consistent with your description. My experience with the new ownership has been really good....so far.
Nice end too...

This story ended nicely too.
It took a while (5 days) but yesterday my service rep called, to let me know that my car was ready. He shipped my car on a platform all the way to my office, 65 miles away, free of charge.

Also the invoice was a neat surprise. Wheel alignment was free of charge, as the inspection of the exhaust system. I was only charged 35.00 for the windshield chip repair.

The only down turn, they washed the car even though I requested NOT to do it. (There are now some minor swirls on my black paint).

But in all, it was a neat experience.
Hell, if someone came up to me talking about a 914 I'd treat them like that too. Not a real Porsche.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Yeah, kind of a sled, but at least his was a 2.0 liter! I just could not believe the little side marker/turn signal lens was $110.00!! I'm not convinced they're any better now. I called about a month ago to ask how much to service the trans in the 55 and was quoted $650.00!!
They haven't gotten better yet!! I talked to a guy yesterday who has a 05 c55 with 6000 miles and already had the transmission go out on it!!!
