2001 E55 Black/Black-Red interior. 57,000 miles. Factory Nav, Heated and cooled ortho seats, Bose/CD changer, Power rear sunshade and side shades.
Clean carfax with 2 PO and was MB certified starmark before the second owner. Carfax shows MAF already changed. Car is clean with no dents or scratches and the origonal wheels have no curb rash. $23,995 but I was going to try and hagle them down. I only wish it had an all black interior. What do you think? I know this sounds stupid but on the highway going 65-75 what kind of mileage could I expect? Anything over 20 would be fine.

Considering the mileage, and options, the trade in value would be ~$17.6K. Edmunds used Mercedes-Benz E-Class car appraisal. Used Mercedes-Benz car pricing. Add the standard dealer used vehicle mark up of $6K, the inflated dealer retail is ~$23.6. I would not offer a penny over $20.6. If you're going to pay over $20.6K, you got to be in love with it. It appears that the designo seats is the deal breaker. Use that as leverage. Good luck. Also, if you are patient, a better deal is always out there somewhere.

I was actually going to trade my 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 GT with 18,000 miles for the E55, the dealer said he was interested. I also thought $20-21 was a fair price for the car. I am more interested in getting a good car. There is a local MB dealer near the seller, if I want to get a PPI what should I ask for and how much should I pay? Is it better to go to an independent shop? I have MB diesels and only know about E55's from what I have read on the forums.

All your help is appreciated

Sounds like you are on the right track. For the record, W210 E55s can be described in a word: Bulletproof. PPIs run $100 - $120; good idea. I would personally take it to the dealer for a PPI. Save any future maintenance for the indy. :)

I get in Miami at that speed 22.7 to 23.5 mpg with A/C on driving 30 miles a day and If I turn the A/C off even better mpg. These cars are great due to HP and mpg I can stay with the fastest cars on the road and still get good mpg. I paid $23,400 2 years ago with 36,000 miles on it.

If not this E55 find one you love and buy it. Most of the problems on these cars can be fixed by yourself with a CD manual and some tools very DIY.
