No Updates

Hey Y'all,

Just poking my head in to say hi... sorry I have been non-existent.. just buried in fixing other peoples cars :)

Still have the CE. Still love it. Still have the same ugly rims.. been trying to find some 18" Carlsson EVO's or Brabus EVO's if anyone has a lead on a nice set?

Hope everyone here is doing well!

Best,

Brian

So I'm getting set to install a 5.0 M119 with transmission in a 300E from a R129 500SL with KE Jetronic, will the R129 crossmember work in W124? Also is tunnel in sedan larger than in a coupe or same?

I do not think the 129 xmember would fit.. but I don't know for sure.

I also cannot honestly say that I know the exact dimensions of the tunnel but I would assume there would be at least a little bit more room.

Good luck!

I have a large interest as I am thinking the 650 which I already have complete into my 1987 4 door 300E. Again the Crossmember is a concern, does a 126 crossmember fit into a 124 chassis, the 126 is the original option motor they used in the Hammer back in 1987, just with more Horsepower and option of 5.6 bored to 6.0 litre.

The 560 SEL also built in 1987 and is a 126 body style, this was the the upgrade to the 124 series hence the same year. So basically it is a 5.6 Litre.

Thanks for that. time for some measuring I think, otherwise I think I will remove the v8 mounts and reweld to the 124 front end. Hmm, not as easy as i first thought.

Read the thread you tagged on to. Swapping in a V8 is a real job. Not for the mildly skilled or faint of heart.

I was a Mechanic when i first started off, I am able to weld, body repairs and mods plus I can spray paint as well. I do realize that it is by no means going to be easy, But I am for the challenge and have very good problem solving skills. I think this is one of those things you either have in you or you don't. I do have to get an Engineers certificate when it's all done to drive on the Roads with registration.

How do I tell if my 1992 400e has self leveling suspension. I need to replace front struts/mounts and springs as well as rear springs. What parts do you recommend?

Look for the 2 black spheres behind the spare tire well carpeting.

99.9% chance you don't have SLS

Another way is to look for the SLS bottle behind the headlight.
