Thanks. I went and test drove the below Black GL450 listed at 69,725 MSRP and the dealer said all he could do is drop max 1K off due to the high amount of sales for the GL. I am now wondering whether I can get even 4K off.

you need to shop around, thats the rule. What i suggest you do is go to edmunds.com and use their free quote tool, put in the car options/details above, and see who can get it for you at the lowest price, then take the lowest price and get back to the different dealships with it and see who can go lower, keep on doing this till you hit rock bottom.
This works 99% of the time, I would say.
Also, bare in mind that other dealerships can sell you the car thats on that dealer's lot, since they all exchange cars.

The average has been $4 to $6k off MSRP, more along $6k off MSRP.

Running boards are the flat ones, the others are tubular. The running boards look better. Look around this forum, you'll see some pics.
$6K off of a GL MSRP of $69,725 is approx. $1,120 below dealer invoice. Now I know some good deals can be had for on-lot stock but it is hard for me to believe that MB dealers are selling all their GL450's for about $1K under invoice. GL320CDI's are a different story and discounts of $1-2K are hard to come by.

Nj - I think discounts are also dependent on location. In LA where you have a ton of dealers, discounts on 450 can be had. Not everyone will get 6K off but invoice pricing is becoming easy to get for the lot queens. Of course, you try the same in SC where there are only 6 dealers in whole state, the discounts will be much harder to come by.

PS - SC residents, please, don't be mad at me :) I only use that for comparison since I used to live in that fine state. This is in no way, shape or form a reflection of the state.

That GL at Sugarland is now sold. Until the release of the '08 GL450 & GL550 in June/July, availability is getting really scarce on GL's. BIG discounts are going to be harder to come by for the next few months.
