Hi everyone,
I am looking to purchase a 1982 300SD I am still unsure of the mileage on the car. I will call this morning and find out. I keep reading about compression testing and the such before buying a car like this. I keep reading that the engines are bulletproof then I read that I need to check the compression before I buy. I am getting a little lost and confused. This car is currently on a lot and I am sure they are not going to let me leave it overnight at a mercedes specialist to get a compression test done since the engine has to be cold. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for? Aside from smoke from the exhaust and extended time required to start the car? Thanks in advance for any replies

There are mobile inspection mechanis who will do compression tests

For example google Auto Critic they are only in a few states but you can find many mobile mechanics on craigslist who can come to the lot
