Today's going to be a good day. At 10am, I am having 2 new AMG wheels installed at our local Mercedes dealer!!

I contacted my Auto Insurance...and they were SO amazing. Love AAA!!!

Not only are they paying for the wheels, installation, mounting, balancing...they insisted I only go thru the dealership, to ensure I get authentic & genuine AMG/Mercedes wheels! :)

Congratulation for your new wheels. It would take ages for insurance companies here in Taiwan for claiming in such case. Especially for AMG wheels.....!! Must be great for the weekend too...!!

NO premium hike. It was billed as comprehensive, not collision...since the machine at the car wash did the damage, not me!!

They look great...I feel like I have a new car again!

Congrats on getting new wheels. It is always important to use a good insurance company and this is why I always make sure all my clients have the best insurance company money can buy. The last thing you need is your insurance company giving you hard time when it comes time to payout.

Congrats on the new wheels! Indeed, not all insurance companies are monsters. I had over $7000 in damage on our Camry. Snow and ice slid down my cottage room and onto the roof/hood of the Camry. It was in the shop for over 2 months but the insurance covered it under comprehensive.

I was sure that despite not hiking my rate, they would certainly not want to renew me as a customer. Alas, they've kept me, and I, them. :)

sorry, unfortunately thats not how insurance works.

billing it under comprehensive still has the possibility of having your premiums raised regards of if it was your fault or not.

lots of hit and run accidents are filed under comprehensive instead of collision based on the fact you werent at fault.

all insurance companies have different ways of determining if your premiums increase or not. some will let you slide with small things like this, others won't. 9 times out of 10, if you filed anything else with the insurance within 12 months they almost surely raise your rates.

imho, you should have called the police to file a property damage claim against the car wash, and have the officer come out onsite and write a report.

Deutsch 100, I am happy for you!! I'm so glad to hear that ur getting new wheels!!

I am suspecting that your insurance may rise. Though it's comprehensive, any time you claim insurance, your rates go up. It's simply how the business works.

Thanks everyone. We've had the same insurance carrier for all our autos, motorcycles and home owner policy for years and years. They assured us this claim would not raise our rates. If it does, then I will have to fight back (and let you know)...but as of now, they said it is not a problem!

@ Deutsch

Happy to hear the issue is resolved for you. Knock on wood there will be no effect on your insurance.

Any word from your agent on your insurance recouping the cost from the car wash?

@ vince

Would the police ever come for such a thing? The car wash is private property. Police don't intervene for fender benders in shopping centers and in many cases (nowadays most cases???) don't come on scene on public roads unless it is a safety issue for other motorists and/or there are injuries reported.

@ humsin ... I will carefully withhold my witty comment ;)
