I bought a warning triangle for a W211 in Europe earlier this year however I have sold the car. It is for a W211 wagon however it could be used with any other model. Details at:

I just recently picked up a new E-320 from the Stuttgart factory and they provided a warning triangle for free (required by the government). Upon turning the car in for shipment to the US, I put the triangle in my suitcase so it wouldn't get tossed by the customs people. If I wanted another one, I'd get one at Walmart for about $15. There's nothing special about them.

You could also get the OEM one that BMW makes that is lighted with 51 flashing LED's for les money.

They are appoved, there just not required.
