W140Gill,
You should post this on the W220 forum as well. Maybe somebody has owned both cars and may know better. Someone who owns a W140, most likely may not have a W220. But someone who has a W220, may have owned and upgraded to W220.

Gentlemen, My S Class is about to undergo major internal surgery and your assistance is needed [].
I am going to fit Voice controlled, NAV/TV/RADIO/TAPE/PHONE/CD Mercedes Command v2.5 as on the current W220 chassis to my W140.
I have been busy buying the pieces needed:
Command V2.5
Din 2.5 Chassis
GPS Antenna,
Benz CD map of Europe,
TV Antenna,
Correct Gyro plug
Speed pulse sensor wiring for ABS,
Code Plugs for NAV & Voice control,
Wiring looms etc etc...
The AC controls is going to be relocated to higher up and the switches moved to the sides of the ashtray.
The installation will look a lot neater if I can replace my 'dialed' AC controls with the newer push button digital type. I understand the 'defrost switch is now on the AC controls.
My questions:
(1) Does the newer control panel have the same connector as the previous one? ie. Plug and play.
(2) Is the Command unit key coded? - I have no manuals.

Needless to say My Alpine IVA 6.5" Widescreen TV/MP3/Minidisc/AMP/DVD/PS2/CD Autochanger set up will be ditched. I will be selling this as soon as I know my project is successful
Thanks for your assistance []
