Anyone know if a gen 2 seat base will fit into a gen 1. In this case from a 1986 560 sec to a 1984 380 SEL. Also are the seat bases the same for both driver and passenger side?

No - the electonics are different. A late Gen II (89-91) base electronics are different than an early Gen II (86-88) and both are different than a Gen I. The base frame itself is the same dimensionally, but the electric wiring and connectors are different.

In addition to the above, in that, the seat belt anchor is attached to the seat.. L & R are not interchangeable.
