I recently bought an european 1981 w123 300D 4-speed.It is in perfect conditions and it only has 75.000 km!!!!! My father also have a w126 300 SE which had a big accident last year (not his fault, He was stopped and a truck came from the back and hit his (and my) beloved Mercedes) and is too destroyed to fix it.But the gear-box, and engine is perfect. I was wondering whether it could be possible to put the 300SE 5-speed gearbox into my 'new' 300D. Thank you for your advice.<br> Sergio Chaver

No it is not a possibility for you. The gearing ratio is too far off for each. Gas v. Diesel !
