Car is a 1997 210 with 119 engine. I recently had the transmission replaced with a rebuilt unit.

All works well except that the park lock safety system seems to have been inadvertently disabled. Keys can now be removed regardless of where gear lever position. Gear lever can now also be moved even with the key out. Park lock system was working well before transmission was replaced. Would very much appreciate any inputs where to start (fuses, loose harness connections, etc.)? I am already scheduled to take it to back to the shop but would like to have an idea what went wrong before i do that. Thanks.

If I were you, I would take it back to the installer and have him complete the job!!! Otherwise I guess you will have to live with it!!!

Ditto to Plutoe. The transmission installer almost surely botched the job. What I fail to inderstand is how the anti-theft system could have been disturbed when they R/R the transmissions?
