Today whilst heading to work, all my gauges on the 300 ce went to zero, then a weird buzzing noise under the steering wheel kicked in,when i used the indicator stalk the buzzing stopped, stopped and started the car everything was ok but then gauges went again, any ideas,i've checked my fuses all seems well

Check the search in this forum and see that the fuse (no.5 in my e320) is probably the culprit. It looked fine but after 13 years I suppose it couldn't handle the strain anymore.

if not the fuse check the OVP relay located behind the battery

99% for certain its the fuse. It probably isn't blown; it probably just has contaminated contacts. Clean and reinstall all fuses or at a minimum, spin them 360% in their holder while in place.
