Hi all,

Seems like I'm running into some problems.

My bonnet's gas lifts has completely stopped lifting. There seems to be some oil seeping from the gaskets.

Also, the boot lid is getting heavy, and doesn't open on it's own anymore.

How do you replace them? (Specifically the bonnet, the boot lid just seems like 'plug and play.
Are those generic sizes, or must I get them from the dealer?

Erich

The bonnet (or as we say "hood") struts are not generic - you must get OEM parts. It used to be two part numbers - one with the locking service position button, the other without. I believe now that they only sell one part with the lock button. In that case, you want to remove the button from one of the struts in order to be able to raise the hood (oops, sorry, bonnet) into the service position without a helper to manipulate the other strut's button.

On the boot/trunk lid, remove the side paneling from the trunk so you can see the hinges and springs. There is an adjustment where you can move the spring to anotehr slot to make it tighter.
