after a medium length drive, I can smell gas, sometimes worse than others. I work at a Nuke plant (they check out cars randomly) and they even said they smelled it one day.

any common issues with this?

Check under your car next to the fuel filter(passenger side) under trunk. Accumumalators leak sometimes when they get old.
