hello i have posted this ? already but i dont think i was clear on what i was trying to fing out i have posted a pic its a 2000 ml430 i was wondering if this adjustment knob was just for the tension for the gas peddle and did nothing else thanx

As far as I know that adjustment is for taking up the slack in the gas cable.

I adjusted mine for minimum slack at the idle position of the pedal then asked someone to press the gas peddle fully down and checked a) that it was not pulling too hard on the thing at the end of the cable and b) that there was mininimum slack at the full gas position.

There is probably a proper procedure for this, but the above seems to work.

thanx i wasnt sure if it had anything to do with the transmision shifting?
