The other night I was driving my car and the gas light started flashing it said I still had a half a tank. Well when I went inside the gas station and came back out it was on the 0 line and now my gas gauge isnt working it stays on the zero line. I just filled it up with gas so I know it has gas on it. Any idea's of what this might be and how much to repair? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Aaron

I could be because I usually try to get the closest cent to the dollar. I'll give it a try but I really dont think thats it. I'm about to just take it to the shop and have them take a whack at it.

Flashing light in fuel guage normally means severe leak (fuel cap not fitted/leaking) OR carbon canister polluted due to overfill. Gas guage on 0 leads me to believe that it was due to overfill. I had a similar problem (gas guage on 0) once on a C-Class when the carbon canister was initially introduced and nobody was yet aware of the risk of overfilling the tank.

Try driving it for a few days. It may recover on its own as the fuel level starts to drop and the canister dries out.

I guess that is why the instructions on the gas cap area say DO NOT TOP OFF

Wow, I have never realized that, usually when I pump gas I try to get it near the nearest dollar. From now on imma just pump it to one click. I took it to the shop and they think its my fuel flow meter. Ill keep yall informed.
