I've got a 99 SL500 which has an "intigrated" garage door opener funtion. The manual indicates that with the key turned to position 1 or 2 you press one of the buttons on the bottom of the center rear view mirror until a small lite begins to blink, etc. I've pushed the button, each one, one at a time, (there are three) untill my finger turned blue, no blinking lite that I can detect. Am I doing something wrong?

Idk,
Try running a search on this topic, I recall writing a post not too long ago addressing this subject.
The type of garage door opener will also dictate the programing steps involved.

Try to reset first, hold 1 and 3 buttons for 20-30 seconds intil the light flashes...then try the programming steps. Resetting will clear the remote codes from all three buttons but it was the only way I could get my 97 to program recently. After the clearing function I was able to program 2 static code openers and one rolling code. The rolling code openers are the difficult ones and require you to attempt to program with the remote and then "learn" on the door opener itself.

Thanks Guys,

I followed Lincoln's suggestion regarding clearing the memory and starting all over. I have a rolling code garage door opener and had no problem re-coding the SL's system once the memory was cleared.

Thanks for your help
