Tonight was one of the worst nights! I let my mom drive my ML430 and when she came back home she didn't pull far up enough in the garage and she closed the garage door (automatic).

It scraped and scratched the back window and ruined it permanately and scraped the left upper panel and cracked it. It's sticking out and it looks like water can get in the back now.

I'm gonna need to replace the back windshield and that left side upper panel. About how much will this cost me?

Needless to say I was highly upset over my car. It's my baby!

The D-pillar trim is not too expensive. Here’s one on Ebay for price comparison: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7961344524

I don’t know for sure about the window, but based on the front windshield, I would count on at least $500 for the part plus a few hours of labor to install. You should call around for prices, as there is a lot of competition in the auto glass market. Also, the D-pillar trim is attached with urethane just like the glass, so if you buy the part, the glass shop should be able to install it for you.

Good luck!

Yep that sucks[:(!] I found out once that my garage was not level on each side. I always parked on the right side of the garage, and could actually back out of the garage with the rear hatch open. One day I parked on the other side, and attempted to back out the garage, and darn near ripped my rear wiper right off[:0] I heard a crunch and though "woe is me"....

Like all people I keep saying that your car is only as safe as the $20 infra-red beam and $50 pressure strip on the bottom of the door.

Its usually the things we leave out that cost us money.

Which makes me wonder if it would be worth it to buy a secondary set of infrared sensors and mount them at about bumper-height.
