Restoring your car?,get familiar with POR15 products.
I'll second that - POR15 paint is simply the best, don't waste your money or time with anything else.
Does anyone know when MB started galvanising, and which cars? I've had a trawl around but not found any info. I'm wondering if my 1987 W126 is protected.
I haven't found any hard data yet (I'll post a follow-up if I do), but I suspect MB were quite a few years behind (after, that is) Porsche. My 116 (79) was REALLY rotten, and the 126 has the dreaded bottom of rear screen rot too. I doubt if the 126 was galvanised even in '87, which if true is pretty ridiculous given how expensive these cars were when new.
