His is one of the 300 Anniversary Editions made. The car has around 35,000 miles and it comes with 100,000 miles factory Warranty!

Car and rims are located in Southern California and he is willing workout a deal for both the car and rims together:thumbsup:

either that or he realized the ride on them is aweful such that you wouldn't dare try to sell the truck with them that might need to be test driven... there was a truck around me which had 24's on it, and the shop that put the rims on said it rode so bad it wasn't even funny... (and that was on a softer suspended g500) they had a picture of it on their wall... that's not even accounting for the fact that the steering wheel might shake so bad over bumps it's scary...

btw, they should still look "good" on a g500 if you like big rims... they stick out more than stock which is what most people want anyway with this kind of rim. You could argue the g55 flares stick out too far anyway... so they can use the extra width. I'd put my money down the person who sold them to your brother used the "only for the g55' as a trick to sell them as being even more rare and "exclusive".

This all said, you couldn't pay me enough to mount those rims on my g500... i'd wear 6" high heals myself before i'd put those 24" high heals on my truck... and lets just say i'm not switching teams.

good luck with the sale though, i'm sure someone will like them. But in the famous words of B.A. Baracus from the A-team... "I pitty the foo..." if the buyer doesn't get a return gaurantee if he/she hates the ride feel.

Please stop making assumptions about things that you no absolutely nothing about!

My brother owns 2 G55's one is 2005 Anniversary Edition that is his Finances and his is a black 2008 model.

He had these rims custom made from Platinum Motorsport..to be put on his black G55 and it doesn't look good on a black car; and since he is a Ceo of a Investment firm he can't show up to meetings with bankers with Wheels that look out of place!

Worst case scenario if he doesn't sell the rims he will just paint them black and put on his G55 and it will look more fluid!

The Rims look better on a Silver car and here is a picture

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the ride quality period, if you are local come by and put them on your G wagon and see for yourself!

But unless you are talking from experience personally keep these comments to yourself!

look i'm not saying they wont fit, i'm saying the ride likely sucks. and no i don't have any personal experience but i'm retelling what the guys in the custom shop told me... who drive around in trucks all day long with big rims so i think they have more authority than you... who's trying to sell something... they were willing to admit it and i showed up in a g500 so they still had a vested interest in selling me something. As well, people have reported severe steering wheel vibrations from big rims... so i'm not talking out my butt... i do agree with you though... the rims might ride just fine, and have no steering wheel vibrations, but i'd sure want to know what i might be getting myself into if i was going to buy them... it's called walking in with your eyes open to what you might be getting.

And if the ride isn't much worse, i'd be very nervous about the sidewall strength of the tires, becuase it's pretty common around here for cars with big rims to be off the side of the road with a blown rim and tire in one shot from a pot hole... they end up having to buy another rim just so they can sell them off to go back to stock so they don't have to keep replacing tires.

Not only that but around here most people would be embarrassed to show up with big rims on their car. Most people who put big rims on their car had trouble buying their car used in the first place... basically big rims usually only go on the cars of poor people. (nothing against poor people BTW, but it's not a good spending of money in my opinion). And the few who are driving around with 24's on a current model year (so they bought it new) are usually middle eastern or black. That's fine, but if you plan on doing business with a bunch of stuffy old rich white people, or avoid getting pulled over by the police, big a$$ rims aren't going to help your cause around here.

Again, my point isn't that they don't fit... in fact my point was that they'll also fit on a g500, so thinking they're all so special that they only fit or look "good" on a g55 is trash. I think they make the car looks like a bull dog in high healed shoes, but someone will like them, and they'll look good on a g500 too...

... and if he can't sell them he's going paint them black to use them? Makes no sense, if he has the money he wants them gone and he'll dump them for the best offer no matter how bad, becuase he doesn't need the money. if he likes them he shouldn't give a crap about a few dollars to paint them. I smell a rat.

Wow. If any other member has said this line, ewalberg would go wild. That my friend is what we call racist. What does that line supposed to mean; that people with big rims are middle eastern or black. I think that is completley absurd. I smell a racist.

I'm so not racist it's not funny. ... i totally see what you mean, but I'm just saying if someones putting on big rims on their car becuase they want to make a statement, they want to look this way or that way... well around here that's what you see. It's an FYI plain and simple. It's an observation, not a judgement... made for people who want to be judged for their rims...

usually people puttin rims on their cars CARE what other people think... so they might want to know. Seems most of the cars getting pulled over around here have aftermarket chrome or black rims... i wouldn't put them on my truck becuase i don't want the police attention.

First off, everyone stop bickering about who is racist and who is not. This is about the "rims", which by the way, no offense, are referred to as wheels on this side of the island. Just learn better and call them what they are, and they are wheels. Ewalberg is a nice guy, not a racist. Don't try to get all political and racist on these forums. This forum should be used by respectful and knowledgeable G Wagen owners. Ewalberg probably knows quite a bit more about "rims and tires" than a CEO of a financial firm, no offense. I am 18 and I know that 24" dubs on any G class are going to come with shitty riding quality and probably an annual replacement of the steering damper. Act classy and respectful, please. And BTW post in the correct forum. There is a for sale section of BenzWorld.

First reason given for the sale:
"...my brother bought these rims for his G55 but then decided to sell his car and that is why he is getting rid of the rims."

Second reason given for the sale:
"He had these rims custom made from Platinum Motorsport..to be put on his black G55 and it doesn't look good on a black car; and since he is a Ceo of a Investment firm he can't show up to meetings with bankers with Wheels that look out of place!"

So, meet the 2 brothers:
Alex, the investment firm CEO and Adam, also known as Abdul (Erik was right)
Skyview Capital
Skyview Capital

I am pretty certain that the tires will rub on the pitman arm as well as on the front control arms. Rubbing in the upper rear fender wells under compression is likely. Just guessing from the tire sizes available for 24" wheels (285/40 and 295/35), the entire combo is about 34" tall.
With a 34" tire diameter the ESP will freak out all day long unless the brothers found someone to reprogram the transfer case and instrument cluster modules.

Could not find a G55 with Platinum Motorsports rims on youtube, but found some of the other clients (Erik is still right):

I'm staying out of the conversation regarding who is most likely to buy these rims but I do find this line amusing.

I know a lot of Investment/Banker types - socially and in my business dealings. If I showed up at any meeting driving a G55 w/ 24" rims that cost $8500 their opinion of me and my financial sense would drop drastically. Several would probably laugh in my face - and I couldn't blame them. Selling them 10 miles later - should have saved the $8500 and treated these guys to a nice round of golf, 1st class steak dinner, and a good cigar.

Funny what does a Ceo of a finanical firm have to do with knowing about rims and tires? Sorry he knows about rims as much as the next guy He has had enough cars over the years to know about rims and tires; and he is only 29 years old too. And a friend of his has 24's on his Ranger Over Westminster edition and the ride quality is the same..and I'm sorry he is a Beverly hills Doctor and white too!

I love very one giving their 2 cents about this issue not nothing the facts.

No big deal, he probably won't sell the rims and paint them and put it on his G Wagon..and then he will worry about his ride quality and the horrible steering that everyone is suggesting

are you kidding me? Over 90% of people in LA have aftermarket rims on their cars..it makes their car unique and different from the same car next to it; it’s putting personal touches on a car. And people don't get pulled over for after market rims, where do you come up with this?

If you don't like aftermarket rims no problem..to say someone does it just for show off or be seen is an absolute joke!
