Hi folks!

Had a little bit of too much time this weekend, so I played a little bit with iMovie and made this 3-minute-vidoeclip from scenes of the 20. Rallye El Chott last November in Tunesia ...

Hope you like it ...

Great movie. How can I save the file? I would like to save it as one of my G movie collections.

Thank you!

Very Good Movie ARND thanks for sharing .

I like it when the G 320 over powered and over took the Pajero [}:)] and how the V8 /3.9 RR Vogue was trying to catch up [xx(]

I have some questions :

1-Is there any modifications done on that beautiful G 320 ?
2-Why mud terrain tires?
3-On those open plain roads shown at the end of the movie what was the maximum speed you’re doing?
4-How can I save it ? I would love to add it to my collection .
5-What were the vehicles on the podium ?

ConGractulations ,

1-Is there any modifications done on that beautiful G 320 ?

Sure:
- 3-Stripes-White-Springs Front & Rear
- Double-Shockabsorbers Front & Rear
- Aero-Front
- GFK-Frontfenders, Bumbers & Reardoor
- Schmude-Snorkel
- Kevlar-Carbon-Hood
- Kevlar-Carbon-Plate instead of Sunroof
- Sandboard-Holders instead of the rear-windows
- Stripped Interiour & Recaro-Seats with 4-Point-Belts
- Electric fan from AC instead on regular of regular fan
...

2-Why mud terrain tires?

Because they have good quality-traction-price-ratio

3-On those open plain roads shown at the end of the movie what was the maximum speed you’re doing?

About 110mk/h ... other teams had done there 130+km/h

4-How can I save it ? I would love to add it to my collection .

Hehe ... that is the good on this Video-Format ... you can't save it ... [:p]
But ... okay, I put in an HQ-Version on the following Server:

5-What were the vehicles on the podium ?

1. G320 (LWB with custom Body)
2. Range Rover
3. Land Rover 90
4. G320 (we [:D])
5. 300GE (SWB)

Well ... that G have much more features than that TIS ... that G is a real Unicat!

W461 Frame with 2850mm wheelbase
W461 Truck-Cab (only available for 3120 & 3400mm wheelbase)
W463 320-V6-Engine & Autotranny
W461 Transfercase
Custom Body behind the Cabine
Air-Pre-Cleaner between Cab a Body
Selfmade Double-Shocks Front & Rear
And much much more ... can't count it all ... [;)]

Greetings, Arnd!

Oh, just a little additional anecdote about the winning G:
They ripped off the left engine-mount out of the block on the second day and drove on the whole rallye with the engine laying on the frame with the exhaust manifold and a simple piece of wood between it and hold down by a load-strap ... [:0]

Shebl,

"2-Why mud terrain tires?"

Little know fact, since much in fourwheeling is still driven by wichcraft, is that MT tires, especially BFG, are the best thing for durability, traction and investment in the desert.
85% of the winner circle in US off-road racing trust BFG. Initially you could just grab a set off the dealer rack and go win - and probably still can. For some extra Dollars BFG now provides unbeatable off-road racing tires, the Baja T/A.

... some extra Dollars ...
Hehe ... good joke ... they cost about twice of the BFG MTs ... [:p]

There had also been a G with us running on the 2005 BFG Dakar-Tires ... unfortunatly it never reaches the dunes ... [xx(] ...

Well, the G is "some extra Dollars" as well - and we all know what we get for it.
The Americans came up with: "You get what you pay for it"
No electronic misery moaning in this thread, please!

I have suspected the modification on the suspension and the body , now that you have fulfilled my curiosity I have one more question under these adjustments the G will be classified under group N ( Normal ) or A ( Ameliore ) ?

Arnd / Harald

BFG is the only tires I have been using reasonable prices for good performance , when I had the Land Cruiser I have always used Mud terrain , but when I got the G and my wife used it for 6 month I changed into ALL Terrain considering a lower noise and softer ride and they serve well any off road trip .

I don't have any experience on sand and I have always thought that a tire like the mud terrain will only be digging and sinking the truck in the soft sand .
Apparently I am wrong [xx(].

Thanks for the downloadable version Arnd .

ConGractulation on a 3 podium Gsss .

Hmmmm... women seem to have the tendency to work on smoothing out guys and their trucks to the point that the guys cry with Oprah and their trucks are only good for mall cruising. And then they leave you for an unshaven cowboy in a pickup truck.

LOL ,,, [:p]

In my case it was a financial solution since i live abroad and visit home a month or two in the year I prefer to rent a car instead of buying one and parking it all year round .

When my wife delivered our first Baby she stayed 6 month and instead of renting a car for 6 month I prefered to borrow her my truck .
After this experience I think she got addicted to the G and the next we have to buy when we get back home is a mid 90's G 320 [;)].

Nothing will soften me I have a history of Land cruiser and now a G , I can't enjoy the ride if it is not Rough [}:)]
My early starts were with the Land Cruiser FJ 40 my next was the one in the picture then currently a 280 GE.

Next set on my G will be the BFG mud terrain if I don't affoard the Boggers .

Well, I don't know in which FIA-Class the G will be classified ...
cause the Rallye El Chott is not "Member" of the FIA and so have its very own classes ...
