...ok im sorry for posting more and more messages, but i got a new question for all of you. i opened up my fuse box in the engine bay, and noticed that some fuses were white(most of them) and there was 3 that were red. is there any particular reason for it, or is it just the color they came???

ok, thanks...i wasn't sure if the red meant they were blown, or burnt out. im not the elec...

ok, thanks...i wasn't sure if the red meant they were blown, or burnt out. im not the electrical guy, more of engine, but just getting used to the german style, i was or the jap. imports untill i set my eyes on her. i only asked that question because my factory radio comes on and goes off if i hit a bump or stupid shit like that, and noticed there is a red colored fuse on the radio spot, and was wondering if it was blown and causeing it to come and go. i was thinking that the antena wire must be loose or the ground must be loose...like i said im not an electrican. i try to stay far away from that b/s as possible. so how do you tell if they(the fuses)are broken, blown, or burnt out?

-Thanks a bunch guys(and girls)

Re: Blown fuses

If you're looking at a blade type fuse (it has two teeth at its bottom and is quite flat) check the middle bridge between the two teeth. If it is severed, the fuse is blown.

If you are looking at a pill type fuse, you should see two contacts at the top and bottom. The contacts join in the middle where the metal tapers in and becomes very thin. Check that thin area; if it is broken then the fuse is blown.

What kind of import were you into? I come from the same background; strictly imports - I only got this car because it was so affordable and I really needed a car. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it for long - depends on how well I can fix it up.
exactly like me, strickly the jap imports. and this car was avilible really cheap($1,900 usd) so i picked it up now im loving the luxury and the chicks like it too [;)]. can't complain there, and not to many 17 year old guys drive a M/B. thanks for all your help, i think i got the blade type fuses, its not the glass type were you can see thru...ok i gotta go im in work and looking up stuff for the ride

-Thanks guys
