Blown fuses
If you're looking at a blade type fuse (it has two teeth at its bottom and is quite flat) check the middle bridge between the two teeth. If it is severed, the fuse is blown.
If you are looking at a pill type fuse, you should see two contacts at the top and bottom. The contacts join in the middle where the metal tapers in and becomes very thin. Check that thin area; if it is broken then the fuse is blown.
What kind of import were you into? I come from the same background; strictly imports - I only got this car because it was so affordable and I really needed a car. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it for long - depends on how well I can fix it up.
