My dad has a 2002 ML320 and is replacing the fuel pump.
Where is the best place to get one and is there an updated version?

Thanks

you can get the pump online cheap but most mechanics dont like you bringing parts cause they dont get to rip you off. if theyre willing to install it, theyll still rip you off to make up for their loss. i believe, the 02 model should have the newest version, but im not sure. is the car buzzing in rear driver side? replacing the fuel pump is pretty involved, as you have to rip the floor out behind rear seats. i guess you can check your local dealer or look for a good honest indy shop.

He is tired of getting stranded due to pump failure.
He will be installing it himself.
Thanks for the reply

He got the seats out, carpet up, and the floor panel up
and ordered a new pump, fuel filter, and new fuel lines. He should have the parts Friday.

Well, I just talked to my Dad and he finished the fuel pump install.
He said that when he pumped out the fuel tank there was a bunch of crud in it.
He said there were three different colors of sealant on the floor plate so this must be the fourth pump.
All in all he said it was a bit of a pain for a 72 yr. old man, but not too bad.

He has had to slow down a bit since the heart attack.
It took him 2 days because he was running back and forth from the Benz and pulling a 3116 Cat out of a boat to replace the oil pan gasket.
He still does more by breakfast than I do all day.[:)]
