My gas gauge finally decided to act up and now is doing all sorts of strangeness so it is time to replace the fuel pump (and sensor). I have just spent 2 hours searching for what brands to buy and what brands to stay away from. All I know is stay away from URO or Replacment brand pumps unless I want to do it all over again in a year or so.

Other than a MB OEM pump what brands are worth buying? I would like to stay under $300 if I can.

I noticed that Autopartsway only sells the URO pump.
Rockauto has the Airtex for $226 Canadian before shipping.

Like all OEM parts I have had good and bad about the Airtex.

If they have NAPA in Canada their house brand is a Carter which is under $300 at NAPA, but is $518 at Rockauto. The NAPA pump I am getting has a lifetime warranty, but I hope I don't need to use it. I am sick of pulling the damn rear seat out.
The aftermarket parts industry pricing structure never ceases to amaze me.

I was thinking about getting the Meyle brand pump. It just around $200 and they do make other parts that are quality assuming they make this maybe should be good as well?

I saw the Airtex one but had not reference to it at all good or bad.

Does anyone know if there is a easy way to tell if my fuel filter is the upgraded one?

Oh even if it is under $300 there it sure wont be HERE! :D If you read my other post about sway bar link kits its a good example. Local was quoted something like $189 EACH SIDE and ordered both direct from Moog for $45ea. Canada is a socialist country, the red and white hoard to the north! Maybe that's why they wouldn't sell me the passenger side like due to security!

Old filt3er is very short. If you have a peek in there you should see the part number on it like 0101 at the end if its the old filter. Newer ones are 0701-0801. You may need the updated hoses as the new filter needs a bit of a bodge job to get it to work.

Wragie Meyle pump is very good. I am using one.
Pic of old filter(small) & the new one(big) & a packet of cigarettes for size
So if I have this right I light a match then undo the fuel lines and see what size it is???:D

Thanks Art that actually is very helpful for seeing the difference size quickly and figuring out what I have.

I do not thin you will go wrong with the Meyle pump.

If your filter does not look like this then you have the old one and will need the updated hoses.
Your Parts Search Returned 1 Part(s)
Oh good I found the Meyle pumps for around $170-$180 in a few places. I think I found a Mahn filter for about $70 and the new hoses for maybe $90ish. Once I know if it is old or new filter I can place my order and get er done!

Need to replace the 350’s fuel pump.
Does anyone have any updated brand suggestions?

Yes I know always best to use A Benz but when the price ranges from 650 for it ( that price is from just a quick web search to 43 for a Tril Gear ( yes that is not a typo it is not Trail it is indeed Tril).

It leaves you scratching your head.

On a Ford which the Ml replaced I went through 2 of O’rielly’s house brand pumps then switched to an auto zone house brand so I am very leary.

I see a lot of Delphi and Meyle pumps on various sites. So....

I recently purchased a $35 pump on eBay with the intention of swapping over the sender unit onto the existing pump. Upon examination I wasn't completely confident that I could take both it and the factory pumps apart without breaking something in the process, so I just said fuggit and installed the cheap pump. It's been working well for the past month. Hopefully this lasts. The job isn't too bad, so when you consider that it's about 1/3 the cost of the next cheapest option IMO it's worth it if it lasts a few years so long as if/when it fails it doesn't leave you stranded.

Having a working fuel gauge and no CEL is nice.

No updated brand suggestions wallyo. I stick with OEM.
Pierburg is imo, the only choice. That's just me.
I was asked to replaced one on an ML320 - URO pump - garbage..... how do I know? I was stupid enough to install it in the first place for our neighbor, almost 2 years ago. He bought it online and figured he had saved big $$. Guess who asked again in the dead of winter to install this replacement??
Not moving my vehicles out in this cold weather to fix his mistake. He had it towed to the local CT for repairs.

Here is one with free shipping.

That is not a bad price for a Mercedes pump. But I am still on the fence about spending that much, or going for something that would be 100.00 to 150.00 less?
Right now the 350 is a 3rd vehicle so I have time to do some research and gather opinions.

I have no experience with MB reman parts.
Thanks!
They give it a year warranty. Usually benz reman parts show up on things like the stereo head unit. So the fuel pump surprises me. Since it involves the core deposit I may see what price my local dealer has it for, unless the free shipping works to send the old one back as well.

Update:
Called my local dealer on this 260.00. But he said something very interesting, he said they do not waste their time reman these. Anything part number with the last 2 digits of 80 is listed as a reman, but he said he sees it all the time; bumpers wheels, fuel pumps they come in and are brand new.

I agree, like I said on our ford van I replaced it three time each lasted a year to 18 months. It had a life time warranty, but on that I had to drop the whole tank!

Called a local euro parts store, and found some more info. He said the MB pump is made by Delphi . Price is about the same the Dephi has a lifetime warranty vs the 1year. Every thing he could order was over 250 except the URO which he said is Chinese.
