Fuel gauge stays at zero

I understand fuel gauges on x/w164’s are notoriously unreliable so I’m hoping someone has seen this before?
Fuel gauge remains at zero, low warning light goes out when engine starts. Rear SAM shows no faults and is seeing tank units at sensible values and they change with car movement.
Can B has continuity from SAM to cluster. If I scan the only global code present is 143B00 in engine module (143B00 CAN signal fuel level from control unit A1 (inst cluster) implausible).
Filled tank to see if that has any effect, still nothing.
any pointers or explanation?
Thanks!

Hello 1921dfd. Your fuel pump is faulty for one reason or another. This is a weekend project, if you're interested. Beer and pizza helps. 🤣

BUT, as far as your code, it's the sending unit for your level sensor.

Now, if you had no stuttering issues with th engine or when you go full open throttle and the pump is supplying the fuel, then your fuel pump is ok.

GL.
