I'm driving home this morning from D.C. when suddenly my fuel gauge died. The needle dropped to 0 (from about 1/4 tank), and the range estimator just shows "--- miles". I'm hoping it's a fuse.

Can anyone tell me which one it is? I could not find my diagram under the hood, in the dash box or in the trunk. This is an 02 C32 AMG. I found online an 02 C230K diagram but don't know how close it is. Would it be the fuel pump fuse? The speedo, tach, and multifunction displays were all still working.

Edit: it wasn't the fuse. I pulled just about every fuse in the car and they were all ok.

So I guess it's ok now. I went and filled up, and the gauge went back to full. Weird.

It's the float sensor. I had the same problem with my C43.

This is a common problem on the W203's. All it takes is a full tank fill up, and some waiting time and its back to working again.
