Out of the blue, my 2010 gas B180 (non-turbo) won't fill at the pump AND the fuel gauge has a mind of its own. When filling up, it takes 15 minutes at the lowest fill rate, and keeps clicking off. No check engine light or codes and the engine runs as intended. Car has 15k miles only.

The fuel gauge wanders through the dial like its searching for the right level. It moves dramatically on inclines as well as in general driving. Then it just moves to an "off" position as if the ignition is off.

Anyone had 1 or both issues together? Does anyone know/think the two are related or two issues and just a coincidence? Fuel filler problem looks like an EVAP issue but I'm seeking advice. Many thanks 👍

Probably a "purge valve" problem.

Thank you Devours. I've started at the engine and will work my way back. I've cleaned and tested the purge valve at the inlet manifold, and its working perfectly. Now to attack the purge solenoid valve at the cannister. Difficult without a hoist - these things sit so low, I didn't realise. l'll update this once I've done that.
