690 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  bigdogbitu
I have a 1987 300TD its time to change the fuel filters and was wondering if its a project that is pretty basic and i can do myself to save some cash, or is it something I should have a shop do? I do all the oil changes my self to save cash so if this is something I can do also it would be great. any advice or step by step instructions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Fuel Filter

Yes, it is easy! While you are down there, check out the rubber hose that leads out of the filter to the metal fuel line. This is hose that over time tends to crack and leak! It is a custom hose with special fittings you can replace by ordering online for anywhere for under $30 in most cases. Make sure you do this procedure in a well ventilated area and have a catch pan in case some gas leaks out during this process.

Cheers!
