I wanted to replace the Fuel Filter and Accumulator in my 420SEL.

  1. What are the Part Numbers
  2. What are acceptable aftermarket brands
  3. Best place to buy
Nothing wrong with them right now. Car always starts with half a turn. I has brand new injectors now. But I noticed that it took about 4 or 5 turns to start when I drove it around. It was hot outside. SO I am suspecting the accumulator is going south. Do you all agree?

Man, those accumulators were upward of $500 last I looked. I understand being proactive, but those things last a long long time.

There are a good many other things I’d look at first. Like just the fuel filter. Or the EHA, if you have one. Mine was slow to start when warm when my EHA went.

The accumulator is # A 000 476 09 21 should you need one. At the outset, I would caution against just putting one in before testing rest pressure and IF a problem, isolating the cause first.
Leaking injectors [I know yours are new] including the cold start valve, or a failed fuel pump check valve can be a cause of pressure loss and 'extended' hot cranking time. It's been my experience that an accumulator failure equals NO hot start, just a lot of useless cranking due to the loss of fuel pressure at the injectors. Just a thought..

The filter.. Bosch, Mann, Mahle, Beck-Arnley etc. I did a quick look at Amazon for my research.

My fuel accumulator was original at 300k miles and I was having hot start problems. Check out other stuff as suggested, even though in my case urban wisdom turned out correct....it was the accumulator.
