Discussion Starter #1 (Edited)
I took my 500SEC for SMOG test yesterday; it passed the other emission and visual tests but failed the Fuel Evaporative Controls Functionality test.
THe technician explained that he pressurized the fule tank ( half a pound per sq in.?) and it failed.
He said there is likely to be some leak somewhere.

Has anyone gone thru this?

How expensive can the fix be?

TIA

Generally that means the gas cap leaks. Try another/new one.

I've never seen them pressurize the tank but they do have specialized fittings to test how well the cap is sealing. Ask if that is what he means, while bringing along another cap "just in case".
