Hi everyone, I've been a lurker for a while and have enjoyed a lot of your stories. I've been a fan of these cars for as long as I can remember, probably going back to 1980 when my buddy bought a 1960 4 door for a hundred bucks! Perfect body and interior but it wouldn't run, we put an ignition condenser in and it ran great!

Anyway, here is my car for sale. I hopw someone here will give this car a happy home.
It is a nice 1990 560 SEC with lots of Kms but still in very nice shape. The car has no rust, paint is Silver with Gray leather. Everything works with the exception of the rear screen, the motor goes but the screen doesn't go up. Heat and A/C works properly, heated seats, all seat controls, original radio sounds great, leather and carpets are in excellent condition, sunroof fully functional and no leaks, even the power antenna works automatically (and manual). I have all the books and tags that came with the car when new, and the first aid kit is still there too!(looks complete) There was one small accident in 1993 for about $800. Car has been well maintained and I have lots of recent receipts for work done on the front end, air conditioning, rear suspension (accumulators), tuneup, starter, power steering pump, battery, etc. over $12,000 in the last few years alone. All work was done at the dealership, oil still looks perfectly clean 3000 kms after the last oil change. Car currently has around 325,000 kms but you would never know it. Questions are welcome, I'm sure I left lots of stuff out. I was asking $6500 but I've lowered my price locally to $4500 or trade for a pickup, preferably 4x4. I've had a few of these cars and looked at many, and this one is still a very solid car that I get a kick out of every time I drive it.

Everyone wants pictures on all "cars for sale posts". If you've lurked around BenzWorld for a while, I'm sure you've seen that reply on many FS threads without pics...

Also, if you aren't aware, the US import restrictions are basically on all cars under 25 years old. So with the magic numer currently being 1987, that would make your a 1990 SEC a "Grey Market" import, which means big bucks to meet the regulations and big import fees. Your prospective buyers will be just in Canada most likely.

So wip out the old Digital, take a few pics and post them when ya get a chance.

Yes, sorry about the lack of pics. I will add some fresh ones tomorrow, we just got in from the lake. The car is totally stock as near as I can see, no modifications at all. In the meantime, it's almost dark here but I just ran outside and took a quick one, not the best but it will give you an idea.

As far as someone wanting the car in the US, I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with the US importation procedures. I was thinking mainly this would be of interest to someone in Canada as they are not very commonplace here. In fact, I've not seen another in Prince George (pop. 80,000). I know I'll kick myself for selling it but I just bought a bike (RoadStar) and a boat so the boss says something has to go.

I can see that the SEC has US bumpers and lights in the pic. IIRC, based on friends from Calgary moving to Phoenix years ago with a 560SL, the Canadian Benzes of that era *are* federal compliant apart from the KM speedometer- the sticker in the doorjamb addresses FMVSS etc., and there's no issue. It may be simpler to keep this one in Canada but I don't know why it couldn't be imported with little hassle if it is a US spec model, which I suspect it is.

Nice catch, if it already meets all DOT safety regs, the mods needed are minimal, (speedometer as you point out), and the US compliant tyipical stickers should be there.

You'll probably still need to go thru the standard customs import process, but the expense from the federally licened mod shop will be drastically reduced to just changing out the speedo before they certify it.

Nice car, GLWS

Any More pictures?

Hello Fuzzybob,

Will you be posting any more pictures? May be a few interior and inside engine compartment would be great if possible? Thanks

I took some pics on the way out this morning, here they are. There is a bit of some kind of residue on the dash right below the 4-way flasher switch. I have not tried to remove it yet, looks like some kind of a small plate was stuck on there. Also there is a light spot on the rear bumper that just appeared one day, my guess is someone's exhaust was too close to my bumper while they were idling. One more thing I forgot to mention is the seatbelt presenter on the driver's side does not function, pass. side works. Also, I took the floor mat out so the condition of the carpets is visible.

Last ones.

Any questions please ask. I imagine changing the speedo would be a simple job for someone familiar with mb cars, would it have to be new or would a used one from the jy suffice? Should be the same for all W126 cars or least the Gen II models for sure.

I'm lowering the price on the car, my new bike will be here in a few days.

Best offer over $3000. Will not take any less as I enjoy driving it immensely and will find a place to store it for the winter if necessary. It won't be available for long at this price.

Car is in winter storage now along with the boat and the new bike, no toys to play with until spring:crybaby2:
I ended up building an addition to the shop with a new concrete floor to give me a place to store the car so chances are I won't be selling it now....oh well
