Hello Guys,

I am new to the forum but I thought that I would list this here.

I am selling my grandmother's 1984 Mercedes 230 E for her since my grandfather passed away two years ago and she is now assisted living and now there is no reason to keep it. It was purchased new in Germany by my grandfather and then imported here and converted to United States standards by Werner's Garage in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

It has been garaged all its life until last week when I drove it here (Pendleton, In). It is excellent shape as the pictures note and the only rust that I could find was a tiny spot on the corner of the driver's door (see pictures).

This car is practically identical to a 240D but has the same engine from the W201 190E 2.3L so parts are available for both the engine and chassis here in the USA.

Here are the details:
The 2.3L fuel injected engine starts right up and runs great
Four speed automatic transmission shifts crisply
Vacuum adjustable European market only headlights that work just like they should on both hi and low beam
Electric adjustable passenger side mirror
Becker cassette deck (the radio function does not work, but it plays cassettes just fine)
Heat and air conditioning. (The air needs recharged but I can remember it working when I was younger and rode with my grandmother in this car)
Never been smoked in all its life.
First aid kit just like new behind the rear bench seat
Spare tire with jack, fuel can, tools, and original hazard triangle
All maintenance paperwork and receipts
Runs and drives great
Power sunroof works great and does not leak
Headliner is tight and looks like new
The Michelin tires have 85% tread left and all match
Here are the only bad things about it. The A/C needs recharging, the cruise control does not work, the radio function of the tape deck can not pick up any stations (the power antenna goes up and down like it should though) and the instrument panel lights do not come on.
The paint is in extremely good condition, except for a quarter size rust spot on the drivers door corner (see pictures)
The VIN is WDB1232231A132982.

Wow. . . . what a great car.

In the used car industry, they would describe this one as "still in the wrapper."

It's none of my business but if at all possible I think you keep it. You will probably never find another Mercedes in this original, unmolested condition, or that posseses this one's documented (and family) history.

Oh well, it's none of my business.

I wish you well and good luck with the sale!

AC might be any easy fix or it might be verry expensive. You never know until you trouble shoot the system.

If you fix the AC I think this car will sell. Nice car.

Wish it was a 280, but the M102 motor is a good reliable one.
