I just replaced the driver's side regulator on my daughter's 2001 CLK430 Cabrio, and still currently have the door panel off. After remounting the window and associated hardware, it operates all the way up and all the way down. However, once it reaches the top, it backs off about 3 inches leaving a crack. I've tried all the recommended reset procedures that I've found in here, but no joy. The express feature doesn't seem to work either. I have to hold the button down until fully lowered or raised. Any thoughts on this? I'm at wits end at this point. Thanks.

Tried everything. Even took it to an independent repair shop who called MB to get any and all methods of resetting the window....no joy. I broke down and created a remedy for myself. I drilled a small hole in the door panel at about 11 o'clock above the door speaker, and I mounted a small toggle switch/interrupter that taps into the window power wire. In the "on" position, I power the window to the top, hit the toggle switch killing the power. The window can't back off at that point. When I hit the toggle switch again, power is restored, but the window stays all the way up. Not too much trouble to do, and definitely cheaper than taking it to the dealership.

Semper,

Sorry to see you had so much grief following this small but cumbersome problem.

I hate to see reverse engineering on these cars as they are well engineered for service.

The window switch has a locking detent for the front on cabs and a momentary hold for memory retention in the down position. (auto) normally retains the memory positions.

The window motor has a feedback circuit that remembers stop positions.

Door modules do the rest as learning driver positioning habits. Swapping used door modules from similar cars might require dealer coding a well. Needs Conformation.

Try not to hack too much as it may become a simple fix once you sit on it for a few.
It works for me.

All the best, Mike

Thanks Mike. I didn't do anything else other than tap into the window power with that little switch. Without it, there was no way to secure the car when left unattended. I bought it for my daughter, but it's a little project car for me as well. So far, I've replaced the cats, the back seat, and the window regulator. I also had to do a seam repair on the soft top that seems to be holding well.

While I had her door panel pulled apart, my daughter had an accident in my wife's W211, and I should get it back from the body shop tomorrow. She's been borrowing my W220 to go here and there, and I've been on pins and needles, lol! I couldn't get her car back to her fast enough! :)
