I bought a genuine 107 rear view interior mirror.

In my efforts to replace it, I accidentally 'popped' the mirror
'angle ball' out of its socket in the housing and stem...

Try as I might I can't push it back in. It it came out easy enough:confused:

Any tricks as to getting it back in please?

Angle of attack? Lube? Heat?

Thanks in anticipation.

Can you not compare with the original one, you may be missing a part that fell out?

Replacement mirror, came with the whole arm or just the part to the ball joint?

I have the complete new one complete with arm, no missing parts. (but now separated)

I was unsure how the arm came off the vehicle and the old mirror just popped out off easily from the existing arm so, I intended to use the new mirror part on the existing arm still fixed on the vehicle.

It wasnt until I tried to press the new mirror 'ball' into the old housing that I realised that the housing just 'sprung' off the vehicle easily ....duuh

So now... I have two sperate arms and mirrors (old and new) and no amount of force seems to push the 'ball' back into the arm housing...Naturally, I am afraid of breaking the glass...

Solved it thanks Djenka...Fraught experience though...

Greased the ball thoroughly, cramped it in a vice with mirror swathed in towelling and slowly increased presure until CRACK....luckily not the mirror but the ball snapping into it's housing..phew!

WARNING..Don't pull your mirror off the ball joint housing !

My rear view mirror has a different problem that just happened.

When I flip the mirror to the other position to reduce light at night
it slips and will not hold the other position.

Feels like something is loose by Im not sure whats wrong.

I got to drive my beast over the Golden Gate Bridge yesterday and it was a fun drive all but brief.

Many thanks
