Shortly after purchasing my 190e it started developing a slight starting problem. I would have to crank for much longer than normal to get it to start, but only on occasion. However now it has escalated to a degree where I'm starting to fear its just not going to start at all one day. After sitting for more than a few hours, when I attempt to start it, I have to crank for a few seconds then it starts, revs to maybe 500 rpm, then slowly cuts out, until it dies. I wait a minute, try again, each time brings slightly higher rpm and slightly longer periods of running. After oh say, ten tries I can put my foot on the gas without it dying and if I hold the revs at 1500 for a minute or two, then let off, it sits at idle, although sometimes too low, say 600 rpm.
I have no idea where to even start and cant go buy every single ignition related part and replace them. Please help! Thanks

Check your fuel pump relay. See if you can have a member that is close to you lend you theirs to try first. If it cranks it has nothing to do with ignition. Next would be having that nice member also lend you their Orange colored OVP relay.

go read thru nutjob most epic stalling thread before you do anything else
Alright, I perused that a bit just for the heck of it. Its not a stalling problem, once I get the car started I have no hesitation to drive it anywhere as I'm certain it won't die, however the idle can be occasionally a bit low for comfort.

I'll check the fuel pump relay as soon as possible, as for a wonderful member to help, anyone near Tacoma? Someone in my neighborhood has a 16v, maybe time to introduce myself.

Behind the battery; there may be a plastic cover that you need to remove to get access to the relays and control modules there. Once the cover is off you will see the OVP relay staring out at you.

2 weeks may be a bit of a stretch but I will be in Federal Way that weekend and can bring an OVP for you to try; I think I have a spare here.

Alright, I checked the relay, the fuse and all the points seem to be in tact, however other than that I'm not sure what to look for. In reading the stalling thread I saw it mentioned somewhere that the anti lock brake light can often come on when the car is experiencing problems cause by the OVP, which has happened. I think I'm just going to order a new one. Then go from there, any other advice.

Alright, I just ordered the OVP, my cars been trying to die on me and as this happens the ABS light flashes. So I'm pretty sure that it has to be it. Hopefully all will be well in 3-5 days.

Even if is not the OVP, having a spare in the car is a good idea. (just in case) They are not expensive and could come in handy when you less expect it.
