My driver's side front window is jammed in the down position (of course). I'm following the Pelican DIY:

Pelican Technical Article: Mercedes Benz - Window Regulator Replacement

But they assume the window is up. Anybody remove the car from the window regulator with the window down? Its not clear there's enough room with the glass in there. I'm up to unplugging the motor and drilling rivets (fig. 12).

Any comments from the Zen masters?

When this happened to me, it's because there was a little play in the window guides, and it would jam when trying to close. Can you get it to close by tilting the glass a bit while pressing the button? I rebuilt the regulator twice when it wasn't the problem. Some dry lube in the window guides was all it took to keep the glass from binding.

Update: As suggested, dry graphite spray, wiggling and up/down with the switch, and voila, the window runs up and down. Thank you. Now however, neither auto up or down works.

Whats the auto up/down reset sequence?

Update. Got it:

The reset sequence is to run the window up/down using the manual switch, and then holding the switch until the relay clicks. NOT the double step to the auto position. The stop position for the auto function is set using the manual switch position.

FIXED. Price: Zero. Even better than repairs requiring only a hammer.
