I was wondering if anyone has a link to a DIY for replacing the front tapper bearings? I did a search but no joy as most were very old posts with dead links. Thanks

W463 or W460? They are different.
Also, this is definitely not a beginner task, unless you want to go through many hours and $400 or so, several times. The task is involved enough that one ususally replaces all of the wear components in the axle ends.

Oops W463 I agree it doesn't look like a conventional bearing repack job and at least one special tool. I pulled the dust caps and left it at that until I can get a handle on what Im going to find in there.

I have the WIS technical info that you would need, but it is too large to post. If you PM me with an email address, I will email it to you. As Alan said, it's not a job to be undertaken lightly.

The dust caps just cover the axle clamp bolt. Do not loosen this nut until you are ready to do the whole job. Getting the torque right would be nigh impossible on used bearings.

In looking at the info sent to me by Floobydust I don't have all the bits to complete the job as you mentioned AlanMcR so when the border opens up again I will be making a big order. Thank you guys!!

I would like that info too. I changed bearings front and aft on my previous G-wagen but now I do not remember how I did it. Now I drive a 1997 model diesel 300

Seems reasonably complete. Not having read the French carefully. I'll add:
Do not lose or mix up the king pin shims. They are different and need to go back into their original locations.
