I recently bought the front seal to replace mine, only problem is thats its slightly longer then the original seal?
Does anyone know if the coupe seal and sedan seals are the same:S?
or
Is this expected? my side bushing seal things are long, but i have heard that often so it gives room for them to be cut down to size.
Thanks guys, here goes to installing a horrendous seal

Have you got the part number for your seal?

If so post it up and I or someone else (I'm sure) can confirm if it is the correct one.

I'm 99% sure the seal is used on W116 and all W123 sunroofs without exception.

Tip for installing the seal:-

Don't arse about trying to stuff it in there. Do a little "extra work" to make your life easier. If you remove the hard front headliner bit you'll see some bolts that bolt the sunroof tray to the roof. If you remove those bolts you'll have a whole lot more wiggle room to get the seal in and out.

Thanks for that.
The part number is: 108 782 00 98. Its an OEM part, and I got it from a reliable source, just confused as to it being slightly longer.

Army, what did you mean by the hard headliner bit? My plan of attack was too remove the entire sunroof, and the wind deflector. Is it even easier if more is removed?
Cheers guys

That's the right number - you'll probably find it is OK when you fit it.

If you are just doing the front seal then I wouldn't bother removing the sliding part of the roof. But if you are doing the side brush bits well then I'd agree that that will help.

For the hard headliner bit - I mean the bit that is not flappy fabric stretched into position but the hard bit at the front (look next to the sun visors)... Remove that bit of the headliner and remove the bolts holding the sunroof TRAY in place...

Ok i worked out the seals
the coupe one has a different code, and could explain the length.
either way im going to try and fit the sedan one because i got it for free:p
Really????

Crap I'm sorry I got that wrong - can you post up the right number for any coupe owner that reads this thread and my bad advice?

Looking at this web page

http://www.germanstar.net/123bod.htm

It looks like the side seals on the coupe are also different from the sedan and the station wagon / estate
